Disaster Relief

Our hearts go out to all the communities, people and animals impacted by recent flooding and tornadoes across Kentucky. KHS is assisting affected shelters in Hopkins, Franklin and Carroll counties by transporting animals – all of whom were unowned and in a shelter before the storms hit – to the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) here in Louisville, KY. By transporting these animals, we help open up space in their shelters for animals who became displaced during the storms.

KHS is seeking community help in the following areas:

Adopt a Shelter Pet

Adopting an animal currently at KHS allows us to make space for urgent disaster relief and other animal rescue efforts. The Kentucky Humane Society is dedicated to aiding as many animals as possible, but we need your help. By adopting a pet currently at KHS, you create space in our shelter for more animals who urgently need our help. Together, we can provide animals with the compassionate care they deserve.

Donations to Kentucky Shelters affected by Storms

Hopkins, Franklin, Carroll and Anderson County shelters are in need of your help. You can donate supplies from their Amazon Wish Lists or send them a monetary donation.

Foster Caregivers

Would you temporarily open your home and heart to foster an adult dog? KHS provides all supplies, making this experience no cost to you. As always fostering an animal, you will allow us to make space for new animals to come in our doors. If your home is a good fit for one of our animals, a member of our foster team will reach out within 72 business hours to discuss details.
